Client: Robert Peregoodoff, Manager at Sauder’s Learning Technology Services Department. A growing trend among educators in recent years is replacing the traditional textbook with electronic books, or eBooks. eBooks are textbooks that can be downloaded or installed from a publisher onto a student’s computer; essentially a paperless solution. The common belief is that students generally prefer to have the class material in a tangible, concrete form that does not require a computer screen. SERA is investigating whether this belief is true and, if so, determine what kind of pricing/discount factors are needed to make eBooks an attractive option.
